Gameplay is fairly similar to the original game with the player able to control the character their playing as and explore the different areas of Springfield completing missions and races as well as other side activities, controls are the same as the original although the behaviour of vehicle handling has been improved so higher handling vehicles are less likely to spin out. This is also the first level where Cosmonautics is directly referenced as Marge has to help deliver TV sets to various families in one mission so they can watch the celebrations live. The second level sees Marge get involved in helping with the preparations at the Squidport helping out various residents of the city with their preparations, along the way she has to contend with Helen Lovejoy who attempts to outdo Marge in several missions.
SIMPSONS HIT AND RUN HOVER CAR SERIES
The second half of the missions see Homer competing to become the Town Crier with him needing to complete a series of tasks for Chief Wiggum and Mayor Quimby to earn the role. The first level focuses on Homer, it is comprised of six missions, the first three acting as introductions to various gameplay mechanics like collecting items, destruction, tailing and on foot travel with Homer performing tasks for Carl, Lenny and Barney.
The game focuses around several characters from the TV show as they go about their day to day lives and investigate the new and strange company. As the city of Springfield prepares for its 202nd celebration, much of the city is in a fever with preparations whilst a new company that's moved into the city that sells discount TV sets and Media Players called Cosmonautics has begun to crop up.
